The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for all of Guam until 11:45 a.m. Heavy rain over Guam will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected.

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for southern Guam until 5:30 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 0.8 and 1.2 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible over the area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Yona, Talofofo, Inarajan, Merizo, Santa Rita, and Umatac.

Residents and visitors in those areas are advised to take the following precautionary actions:

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a high risk of rip currents, in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Wednesday afternoon for east facing reefs of the Marianas. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from the shore into deeper water. If caught in a rip current, do not swim against the current. Swim in a direction following the shoreline, face the shore and call or wave for help.  

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) today. 

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) announced the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) fiscal year (FY) 2024 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP).

It has been one year since Typhoon Mawar caused the island of Guam to announce a major disaster declaration. More than $338 million in federal assistance has been provided to survivors in Guam to include grants from FEMA through the Individual Assistance and Public Assistance Programs, and low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). To-date, FEMA remains in the affected communities, working with local and state officials to provide Public Assistance grants and temporary housing.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued an airport wind advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 7 p.m. this evening. Winds from the east at 15 to 20 knots, with frequent gusts around 25 knots, are expected. Practice caution if traveling in those conditions.
