3:30 p.m. Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 5:15 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area, resulting in minor flooding.

The community is advised to take the following precautionary actions:
  • If driving, be alert for low visibilities in heavy rain;
  • Slow down where water is ponding on the road;

1:05 p.m. Flood Advisory and Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 2:45 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area, resulting in minor flooding.

Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area, resulting in minor flooding.

 The community is advised to take the following precautionary actions:.

9:55 a.m. Flood Advisory and Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for central and southern Guam until 11:15 a.m. this morning. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area, resulting in minor flooding.

 The community is advised to take the following precautionary actions:.

12:40 p.m. No Tsunami Threat to Marianas from Distant Earthquake

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.0, later downgraded to 7.5, that occurred near the Drake Passage, with a depth of 10.8 km, at 12:16 p.m. (ChST).

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Guam and the CNMI from this earthquake.  

This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 3 p.m. this afternoon. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area.

 Some areas that will experience flooding include Dededo, Tamuning, Yigo, Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Barrigada, Yona, Agana Heights, Andersen AFB, Talofofo, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Inarajan, Asan, Merizo, Piti, Santa Rita, and Umatac.

1:00 p.m. OHS-OCD Promotes September as National Preparedness Month

The Office of Guam Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense (OHS-OCD) invite the island to celebrate September as National Preparedness Month (NPM). To commemorate the month, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero will declare NPM with a proclamation signing on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Ricardo J. Bordallo Governor’s Complex, Large Conference Room.

NPM is an observance each September to raise awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.

6:15 p.m. Press Release - Thunderstorm Warning in Effect; Practice Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a special weather statement for Guam. A strong thunderstorm is over the eastern coast and waters of Guam with frequent intense lightning.

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 25 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek harbor immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water, stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
