GPA Update

GPA crews reenergized several general areas in Santa Rita, Umatac, Barrigada, Tamuning, and Dededo, as well as 8 elementary and high schools. 93% of circuits have been restored. Crews continued to work to clear felled trees and vegetation from lines and replace/repair hardware damaged during the storm. 24-hour operations will continue to restore outstanding areas as quickly as possible.

JIC Release No. 24 - UPDATE: Seven additional GDOE schools will open Friday, bringing total number to 30

Please see the following press release announcing that seven additional GDOE schools will open doors to students on Friday, September 14, 2018. 

 

The seven additional schools opening Friday include B.P. Carbullido Elementary School, Daniel L. Perez Elementary School, Ordot Chalan Pago Elementary School, Talofofo Elementary School, Agueda I. Johnston Middle School, Simon Sanchez High School and Southern High School.

The following Senior Centers will be open tomorrow:
•    Agana Heights Senior Center
•    Sinajana Senior Center
•    Dededo Senior Center
•    Astumbo Senior Center
•    Yigo Senior Center


All other Senior Centers will remain closed until power is restored and/or facility issues are rectified. 

The following Adult Day Care Center will operate normally tomorrow:
•    Macheche Adult Day Care Center

JIC Release No. 19 - Heavy rains over Guam; High surf advisory

According to the National Weather Service, the short-term forecast for the island up until 10:00 a.m. reports a band of showers to continuously bring heavy rains.

A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 p.m. Saturday. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet along west facing reefs through tonight. Surf will rise between 8 and 10 feet Friday and build further to between 9 and 11 feet Saturday. Surf will then diminish but could remain hazardous as long as Sunday.
