The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC) follow the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) updates to the National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS).
Since December of 2015, DHS has added the NTAS Bulletin, which provides information to the public. It describes broader, more general trends and current developments regarding threats of terrorism. The NTAS features an advisory system that consists of three types: Bulletin, Elevated Alert and Imminent Alert, with the Bulletin being the lowest form of advisory. For more information on the levels of advisory, visit https://www.dhs.gov/ntas-frequently-asked-questions.
The current NTAS bulletin extends the duration of the last NTAS bulletin until July 18, 2019.
“The current bulletin highlights the challenging threat of foreign terrorist organizations and their means to recruit individuals already in the homeland to commit terrorist acts,” stated Homeland Security Advisor Tim Aguon. “Although the current bulletin does not point to any one specific threat to the Nation, it provides awareness of the broader, general movements regarding potential terrorism. We continue to rely on the informed and watchful public to help identify any potential threats in order to prevent attacks and ask the community to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to the proper authorities,”
The community is advised to report any suspicious activity, social media posts or messages relating the current events, to local authorities and the MRFC online at https://mlrin.org/, following the joint campaign between Department of Homeland Security and Government of Guam, “If You See Something, Say Something” or call 671-475-0400 / email teammrfc@mlrin.org. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
