Hazardous Surf and Seas Remain; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:

high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Hazardous surf of 9 to 13 feet is expected for north, east and west facing reefs. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are expected, especially during high tides.

High Surf Advisory and High Risk of Rip Currents Remain in Effect; Avoid Hazardous Surf

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:

high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Monday night. Surf of 6 to 8 feet will build to between 7 and 10 feet later today and tonight for north and west facing reefs. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are expected, especially during high tides.

Three COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified of three (3) COVID-19-related fatalities:

High Risk of Rip Currents Remains Along East Reefs and Beaches; Avoid Large Surf and Dangerous Rip Currents

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor all activity in the region, including Tropical Storm Nyatoh, as it continues moving away from the Marianas. At 1 a.m., the tropical storm was located 13.1 degrees north latitude and 137.2 degrees east longitude, about 510 miles west of Guam. It was moving west at 7 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
