Results: 37 New Cases of COVID-19
Thirty-seven (37) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 560 tests performed on August 17. Thirteen (13) cases were identified through contact tracing. To date, there have been a total of 9,118 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 144 deaths, 412 cases in active isolation – inclusive of sixteen (16) hospitalized cases with five (5) hospitalized cases receiving ICU-level care, and 8,562 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 9.2.
Flood Warning in Effect; Avoid Driving through Flooded Roads
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has issued a flash flood warning for Guam, in effect until 8:15 p.m. A flash flood warning means flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. This warning may be extended beyond 8:15 p.m. if heavy rain persists.
Flood Advisory Issued for Guam; Practice Caution While Driving
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for poor drainage areas for Guam until 5:45 p.m.
Heavy rain will cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen since midnight. Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected, resulting in minor flooding for Guam.
