Wind Advisory in Effect through Tuesday; Hazardous Surf and Seas Remain 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor a developing tropical system, known as Invest 93W, located northwest of Saipan. As part of the tropical system, a southwesterly monsoon flow is strengthening. Showers will continue to increase in coverage from south to north across the Marianas, with locally heavy showers and a few thunderstorms possible.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) reached a milestone this week as Typhoon Mawar debris clean-up from residential rights of way (ROWs) has been finished in three villages (Humåtak, Malesso, Piti). The debris mission continues in 12 villages with the remaining localities scheduled to begin clean-up soon.

Hazardous Surf and Seas Expected through the Week 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:

A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 a.m. next Saturday. Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet today are expected to become 9 to 11 feet tonight along south and west facing reefs of the Marianas. Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. 

Locally Heavy Rainfall and Gusty Winds Possible Early Next Week; Hazardous Surf and Seas Expected 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor a developing tropical system, known as Invest 93W as it forms roughly 160 miles west-southwest of Guam.

Increased Chance of Showers Possible Across the Marianas this Weekend and Early Next Week 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Tropical Depression 08W located about 300 miles east-northeast of Saipan this morning.

Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 8:00 a.m. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

Be alert and take precautions as required. If outdoors, seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

Earthquake Recorded

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.7 that struck 114km SSW of Merizo Village, Guam, with a depth of 34.1 km, at 4:43 p.m.

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there was no tsunami threat to the Marianas from the earthquake. There were no major damages or injuries for Guam reported from the earthquake.

Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 5:45 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 0.6 and 1 inch of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.8 to 1.6 inches is expected, resulting in minor flooding.
