The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) invite the island to celebrate September as National Preparedness Month (NPM). Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio will sign the NPM Proclamation on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Ricardo J. Bordallo Governors Complex, Large Conference Room.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued the following advisories for the Marianas:
A high surf advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. (ChST) Tuesday evening.
A high surf advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. (ChST) Tuesday evening.
- West facing reefs – Surf will increase from 7 feet to 9 to 11 feet by Monday evening.
- There will also be high risk of rip currents.
- This means that high surf will affect beaches in the west facing reefs producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
Flash Flood Advisory issued for Guam
With the National Weather Service Guam (NWS) has issued a flash flood advisory for Guam due to heavy rainfall. The advisory is in effect until 6:00pm (ChST)Monday, August 20, 2018.
Floods – those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action.

Clear drainage areas and un-block clogged storm drains in your area to minimize the change of flooding.
