In response to the impending weather conditions, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has declared Guam to be in Condition of Readiness 3 (COR 3) as of 3:00 p.m. This status indicates that damaging winds of 39-57 mph are anticipated within the next 48 hours. Consequently, the Guam Department of Education announced the cancellation of classes on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to ensure the safety of students and staff. However, all employees at the Tiyan Central Office are required to report to work.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office reminds the public, No tropical storm/typhoon watches/warnings are in effect. Tropical storm/Typhoon Watches/Warnings are not anticipated with this event. Invest 95W will most likely pass over or near Guam later today as a tropical depression. It is an organic situation and residents should closely monitor this event.

Flood Watch: Now, through 6AM Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a flood watch, in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, through late Thursday night.

Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a high surf advisory, in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, through 6 a.m. Friday.

Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet will build to 10 to 12 feet by Wednesday.

Currently along the south facing reefs of Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Surf will build to hazardous levels along west facing reefs by Thursday.

Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.

South winds of 20 to 35 mph with frequent gusts up to 45 mph are expected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and few power outages may result.
