Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 10:15 a.m. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected, resulting in minor flooding.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Dededo, Tamuning, Yiogo, Mangilao, Ordot-Chalan Pago, Barrigada, Yona, Agana Heights, Andersen AFB, Talofofo, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Inarajan, Asan, Merizo, Piti, Santa Rita, and Umatac.

Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: Eight New Cases Reported October 15 - 17

Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported eight new cases of COVID-19 from 406 specimens analyzed from tests administered October 14 – 16, 2022:

 
  • October 17: 2 of 124 test positive for COVID-19

  • October 16: 3 of 114 test positive for COVID-19

  • October 15: 3 of 168 test positive for COVID-19

Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 48 New Cases Reported October 8 - 10

Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 48 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,158 specimens analyzed from tests administered October 10 – 13, 2022:

 
  • October 14: 8 of 272 test positive for COVID-19

  • October 13: 15 of 254 test positive for COVID-19

  • October 12: 7 of 315 test positive for COVID-19

  • October 11: 18 of 317 test positive for COVID-19

No Immediate Threat to Marianas Assessed from Reported North Korea Launch

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) towards the East Sea today. 

Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 7 p.m. this evening.  Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required.
