JIC RELEASE NO. 1142 - Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 67 New Cases Reported September 27 - 30, Four Hospitalized; Additional COVID-19

Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 67 New Cases Reported September 27 - 30

Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 67 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,582 specimens analyzed from tests administered September 26 – 29, 2022:

  • September 30: 13 of 419 test positive for COVID-19

  • September 29: 16 of 296 test positive for COVID-19

  • September 28: 23 of 535 test positive for COVID-19

  • September 27: 15 of 332 test positive for COVID-19

Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 4:30 p.m. this afternoon.  Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

Be alert and take precautions as required. These storms could produce occasional lightning. Seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

    Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 21 New Cases Reported

    Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 from 608 specimens analyzed from tests administered September 23 – 25, 2022:

    • September 26: 5 of 136 test positive for COVID-19

    • September 25: 9 of 166 test positive for COVID-19

    • September 24: 7 of 306 test positive for COVID-19

    GHS/OCD, JRM, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

    The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), Joint Region Marianas (JRM), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, starting at 3:15 p.m.

    GHS/OCD will test the nineteen (19) All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) sirens in conjunction with JRM, NBG, and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV)” sirens.

    Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 10:45 a.m. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. Between 0.4 and 1.2 inches of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are expected.

    Flash Flood Warning in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has upgraded to a flash flood warning for central Guam, in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday morning. A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

    Heavy rain is falling across central Guam. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible.

    Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Dededo, Tamuning, Mangilao, Barrigada, and Mongmong-Toto-Maite.

    Take the following precautionary actions:

      COVID-19 Test Results: 23 New Cases Reported

      Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 23 new cases of COVID-19 from 299 specimens collected September 22, 2022. Five (5) of the cases reported today are through the Department of Defense. To date, there have been a total of 58,489 officially reported cases, 401 deaths, 159 cases in active isolation, and 57,929 not in active isolation.
