The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised an east swell will maintain dangerous rip currents through today.
A high risk of rip currents remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through this afternoon. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Surf of 7 to 9 feet, dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along east facing reefs of the Marianas.
The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised an east swell will maintain dangerous rip currents.
A high risk of rip currents remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Wednesday. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Surf of 8 to 10 feet, dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along east facing reefs of the Marianas.
Officials are aware of a message circulating on social media and chat groups of a confirmed case in Saipan. This is false information. There are no reported suspected or confirmed infections with 2019-nCoV on Guam or within the Mariana Islands at this time.
In 2019, Guam was included in a nationwide youth preparedness initiative called MyPI, short for “My Preparedness Initiative.” MyPI is a four-time, national award-winning youth preparedness/youth leadership program designed to enhance individual, family, and community preparedness as well as a variety of leadership development characteristics.
Guam is to be included in the initiative and join the now expanded MyPI with 33 other states and territories.
The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised surf will build along northern and eastern shores this week. The following advisories remain in effect:
A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Building trade-wind swell will cause surf to increase through the week. Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet are expected along north facing reefs.

A high risk of rip currents remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Saturday night. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along east facing reefs of the Marianas.
