The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Tropical Storm 16W. As of 7 p.m., the system was located near latitude 12.3 north and longitude 161.0 east, about 1040 miles east of Saipan and 1095 miles east of Guam. It is moving west at about 17 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor what is now Tropical Storm 16W. Residents of the Marianas are advised to carefully monitor the progress of Tropical Storm 16W.
Results: 46 New Cases of COVID-19
Forty-six (46) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 1,373 tests performed on August 12. Thirteen (13) cases were identified through contact tracing. To date, there have been a total of 8,911 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 143 deaths, 330 cases in active isolation – inclusive of Eleven (11) hospitalized cases with no hospitalized case receiving ICU-level care, and 8,438 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 8.7.
UPDATE: COVID-19 Testing at Tiyan
The Department of Public Health and Social Services continues COVID-19 community testing through Saturday, August 14 at the old carnival grounds in Tiyan, Barrigada. Due to increasing demand, new hours of operation will be from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Up to 400 tests will be offered per day. In an effort to make the process as efficient as possible, only PCR testing will be conducted. Testing is free and will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. No symptoms are needed to qualify for testing. Bring a photo ID.
