High Surf Advisory Remains in Effect through Sunday Morning; Inexperienced Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued the following:

high surf advisory remains in effect for north and west facing reefs of Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, until noon Sunday. Large breaking waves of 7 to 9 feet in the surf zone are expected along north and west facing reefs.

198th COVID-19-related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 198th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on September 29, 2021. The patient was a 66-year-old male, unvaccinated, with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on September 23.

197th COVID-19-related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center (JIC) was notified that Guam’s 197th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital on September 29, 2021. The patient was a 76-year-old male, vaccinated, with underlying health conditions who was a known positive case.

high surf advisory is in effect for north and west facing reefs of Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, until noon on Sunday. Large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet in the surf zone are expected along north and west facing reefs.

196th COVID-19-related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 196th COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Memorial Hospital on September 28, 2021. The patient was a 59-year-old male, unvaccinated, with underlying health conditions who was a known positive case.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued the following:

high surf advisory is in effect for north and west facing reefs of Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, until 6 a.m. Friday. Large breaking waves of up to 11 feet in the surf zone are expected along north and west facing reefs.
