Flood Advisory in Effect; Drive with Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect until 3 p.m. this afternoon for Guam. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.4 inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected.

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

If driving, be alert for low visibilities in heavy rain;

If you received a letter from FEMA saying that the information you provided is incomplete, or that you are ineligible for disaster assistance, you have the right to appeal the decision within 60 days of the date on the letter.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flash flood warning, in effect until 8 p.m. this evening for central and southern Guam. Thunderstorms and heavy rain are impacting the area.

 

Between 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected, resulting in flash flooding.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon for central and northern Guam. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Up to 0.6 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected, resulting in minor flooding.

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:

Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected, resulting in minor flooding.

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:
  • If driving, be alert for low visibilities and slippery roads in heavy rain;
  • Slow down where water is ponding on the road;

Press Release - Earthquake Recorded

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 that struck in the Guam region, with a depth of 146.2 km, at 8:15 p.m. (ChST).

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to the Marianas from the earthquake. There were no major damages or injuries for Guam reported from the earthquake.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community that when an earthquake strikes, conduct the earthquake procedure, “Drop, Cover and Hold On” until the shaking stops.
