GHS/OCD, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, May 7, starting at 3:15 p.m.

 

GHS/OCD will test the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) from seventeen (17) locations in conjunction with NBG and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV).”

 

Port Authority AHAWS Siren to be Tested April 23

The Port Authority of Guam (PAG) will conduct a test of the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) siren remotely from the Port location tomorrow, April 23, 2019, between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

 
Residents, visitors and motorists surrounding the PAG AHAWS siren can expect to hear pre-scripted voice messaging announcing the start and end of the test, and the “Alert” tone, which can be heard here: http://www.whelen.com/mass/audio/Euro%20Tones%20Wav%20Files/Alert.wav.

MRFC Provide Tips for Identifying Counterfeit Money

The Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC) continues to monitor threats and hazards to the region. In light of recent reports regarding the use of counterfeit money, the MRFC advises the community to be alert for similar incidences and the potential impact on consumers, businesses, and financial institutions.

The MRFC are in coordination with all appropriate stakeholders to include local law and federal law enforcement entities and local private sector entities to monitor and assess incidences of counterfeit money use.

NWS Fire Weather Watch Remains in Effect; Refrain from Outdoor Burning

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office fire weather watch remains in effect for Guam through Monday Evening. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Stronger winds and continued dry weather expected the next several days will increase the risk of fast-spreading wildfires.

GHS/OCD Host Multiple Trainings from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the University of Guam (UOG) Regional Center for Public Policy and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech), will host multiple training opportunities. All classes will be held in Rm. 129 of the UOG School of Business and Public Administration Building.
