JIC Recovery Release No. 48 - GWA Update; Capacity Advisory for Green Waste Sites: Contractors License Board Extends Renewal Deadline

GWA Update:

The Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA) has lifted its precautionary boil-water notice in all areas with stable water service, meaning areas with adequate pressure, chlorine residual levels in the water, and water sampling and analysis which indicate the water in GWA’s distribution system is clear of any contaminants.

As of 2 p.m., June 13, 2023 GWA lifted its Precautionary Boil Water Notice completely for the Southern Water System, which includes all areas served by the Ugum Surface Water Treatment Plant from Ipan Talofofo to Umatac.

JIC Recovery Release No. 47 - Debris Disposal Site Updates

Disaster Debris Disposal Sites Operational 9 A.M. - 6 P.M.:
The three typhoon debris disposal sites located at the old transfer station in Dededo, the former Tiyan carnival grounds in Barrigada, and Ypao Point in Tamuning are operational from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., seven days a week.
  • Tires are no longer accepted at debris disposal sites
  • Green waste is no longer being accepted at the old transfer station in Dededo due to capacity 

JIC Recovery Release No. 45 - Avoid Sharing Unofficial Information; GWA Update; New Hours for Disaster Debris Disposal Sites

Avoid Sharing Unofficial Information:

The Joint Information Center is aware of an unofficial circulating message purporting that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is informing the community to hire private contractors to conduct assessments. That circulating message and guidance is false. 

The community is reminded to avoid sharing unofficial information and messages further, to avoid confusion. 

JIC Recovery Release No. 42 - GSWA Update; Typhoon Debris Disposal Sites Update; GPA Update

GSWA Update:

The Guam Solid Waste Authority (GSWA) provides the following updates:

 

Curbside Trash Collection: Effective Monday, June 12, 2023, curbside trash collection services will be provided exclusively to registered GSWA customers, only. Only GSWA issued trash carts will be serviced. Any excess bags must be tagged with GSWA issued trash tags which can be purchased at the GSWA office or any residential transfer station.

 

JIC Recovery Release No. 41 - RISEUP Program Launches to Help Temporarily Repair Metal Roofs

The U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in coordination with the Office of the Governor, Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Mayor’s Council of Guam, have launched the Roofing Installation Support Emergency Utilization Program (RISEUP) to help temporarily repair metal roofs damaged by Typhoon Mawar.

Guam residents who have damaged metal roofs can enroll for the program through their Mayor’s office. There are three steps to sign up:

JIC Recovery Release No. 40 - GPA Update; GFD Generator and Fuel Safety

GPA Update:

The Guam Power Authority (GPA) continues its restoration and post-typhoon recovery efforts. GPA reports that as of 1:00 p.m.:

  • 66.0% of the System Load (Customer Demand) has been restored

  • 48.8% of Customers restored

 

Some areas of focus over the next 1 to 3 days include:

  • P-270: Liguan Terrace subdivision

  • P-310: Harmon McDonald’s on to Route 1, including Taitano Road

  • P-250: Ordot-Chalan Pago area

JIC Recovery Release No. 38 - Free Disaster Recovery Virtual Workshop Available; GPA Update

The Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association, Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the Society for Human Resource Guam Chapter, and the Guam Chamber of Commerce are hosting a free Disaster Recovery Virtual Workshop on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., as an opportunity for the community to learn more about the resources available to assist individuals, employees, government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations. 

JIC Recovery Release No. 37 - Additional Disaster Recovery Centers Open; Report Suspicious Activity to Local Authorities; No Burn Notice Remains in Effect

Additional Disaster Recovery Centers Open:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), along with other federal and local partners, have opened two additional DRCs today at the C.L. Taitano Elementary School and the Inalahan Mayor’s Office/Community Center, with regular hours of operation beginning Thursday, June 8. 

 

Regular hours of operations for all four DRCs will be seven days a week from 7 am –7 pm.

  • Guam Community College (GCC), Building E

  • Dededo Sports Complex

JIC Recovery Release No. 36 - Clarification on Guam EPA Investigation, Does Not Apply to GWA Water

On June 6, 2023, the Guam Environmental Protection Agency (Guam EPA) issued an announcement through Joint Information Center Release No. 35 regarding an investigation into facilities around the island who have taken delivery of water from companies who were using tanker trucks that are not rated or approved for potable water. As part of the announcement, a “DO NOT DRINK” Order was referenced and made available for public view.
