JIC RELEASE NO. 392 - 61st COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported;Cumulative Results: 96 Test Positive for COVID-19; Profiles of Confirmed Cases;Yigo Mayor’s Office Closed Until Further Notice; One GDOE Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 61st COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) at approximately 3:15 p.m. The patient was a 50-year-old male with underlying health conditions that were compounded by COVID-19. He was admitted to GMH on October 10 and tested positive upon admission.

High Surf Advisory in Effect; Avoid Hazardous Seas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office advised that winds associated with strong high pressure over the northwest pacific will generate swell and seas that will produce hazardous surf through the coming week.

A high surf advisory is now in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6:00 p.m. Monday. Along north facing reefs, hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet..

JIC RELEASE NO. 390 - 60th COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported; Cumulative Results: 22 Test Positive for COVID-19

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 60th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) at approximately 3:51 a.m. The patient was a 60-year-old male with underlying health conditions that were compounded by COVID-19. He was admitted to GMH on October 3 and tested positive upon admission. 

Short Term Forecast Issued, Flooding and Thunderstorms Expected

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 12:00 p.m., slow moving thunderstorms will bring heavy downpours and occasional lightning to much of Guam and Rota, as they move across the east/northeast. Areas with heavier showers could see up to an inch and a half of rain in, with up to two inches in the southern areas of Guam. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in those affected areas.
