The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 that struck 176 km S of Merizo Village, Guam, with a depth of 44.1 km, at 6:29 a.m. (ChST).
There were no reports made to Guam 911 dispatch of damages or injuries from the earthquake and there was no tsunami threat to the Marianas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:
A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 7 a.m. Tuesday. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet is expected along north facing reefs and beaches.

306th COVID-19-related Fatality Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 306th COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) on February 10, 2022. The patient was an 83-year-old male, vaccinated, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on February 6 and again on February 10, 2022.
Two COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of two (2) COVID-19-related fatalities:
The 304th COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on February 10, 2022. The patient was a 48-year-old male, unknown vaccination, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on February 10, 2022.
Four COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of four (4) COVID-19-related fatalities:
The 300th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on February 2, 2022. The patient was a 68-year-old female, vaccinated, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on January 30, 2022.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) announces Guam is expected to receive $6 million in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding available for Government of Guam entities and private non-profit organizations to address mitigation measures and infrastructural improvements. The application period opened on February 7, 2022.
