ALL 41 GDOE SCHOOLS TO OPEN ON MONDAY

The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) would like to inform the community that classes will resume at all 41 GDOE schools on Monday, September 17, 2018.

The additional schools opening Monday are Harry S. Truman Elementary School, Inarajan Elementary School, Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary School, Marcial Sablan Elementary School,Merizo Martyrs’ Memorial Elementary School, Price Elementary School, Inarajan Middle School, L.P. Untalan Middle School, Oceanview Middle School, J.P. Torres Success Academy and Okkodo High School.

JIC Release No. 31 - Response Personnel Work through the Evening into Tomorrow; Stay Safe, Guam

As recovery work continues, in the aftermath of Typhoon Mangkhut, the community are reminded to continue to stay safe:
•    Drive at a slower pace than normal and proceed with caution
•    Provide authorities the courtesy of the road by complying with traffic signs, watching for traffic cones or larger response vehicles
•    Allow the authorities to safely conduct their jobs by allowing enough room on the roadways and at each job site
•    Do not use cellphones while driving

JIC Release No. 30 - Port Authority of Guam Continues Normal Operations

After Typhoon Mankghut made its closest point of approach to Guam, Guam’s only port of entry, the Port Authority of Guam (PAG) suffered damages to all three gantry cranes; Gantries 4, 5 and 6. 

The gantry is a structure used to straddle a workplace and the gantry crane has the ability to lift some of the heaviest loads, including large containers of commodities needed on Guam. As Guam’s premier point of sea entry, PAG recognized the need to revitalize all three gantries and were able to get 4 and 5 operational immediately after the storm.

JIC Release No. 26 - Practice Safety as Recovery Efforts Continue through the Weekend

Recovery efforts are ongoing. The community is advised to continue to traverse at a slower pace to make way for response officials.

Emergency recovery response work include debris clearing by the Department of Public Works, temporary debris site management with the Mayors offices, Guam Power Authority crews and Guam Waterworks Authority crews continue assessment and work on utilities.

The community is advised to practice courtesy for the responders:

• Allow the authorities to safely conduct their jobs by allowing enough room on the roadways and at each job site
