Avoid Dangerous Rip Currents; NWS Advisories in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected. The following advisories remain in effect:

high risk of rip currents is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Wednesday night. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along east facing reefs.

GPA, MRFC Monitor Suspected Phone Scam

The Guam Power Authority (GPA) along with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), is monitoring reports from GPA customers receiving calls from an off-island number, requesting for immediate customer payment over the phone or risk disconnection of their power service. Customers have reported receiving calls from different numbers including 888-864-1797 and 406-420-8348, and potentially local numbers as well. Customers reported similar incidents in 2019.

 

Avoid Hazardous Seas; NWS Advisories in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised a large trade-wind swell will maintain hazardous surf for the Marianas. The following advisories remain in effect:

high surf advisory remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Monday night. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet along north facing reefs and 10 to 12 feet for east facing reefs is expected for the Marianas.

NWS Advisories in Effect for the Marianas; Avoid Hazardous Seas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised northwest to northeast swell will produce hazardous surf across the Marianas. The following advisories remain in effect:

high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Friday. Hazardous surf of 6 to 9 feet this morning will build to between 8 and 10 feet Wednesday along north facing reefs.
