JIC RELEASE NO. 229 - Cumulative Results: One Tests Positive for COVID-19; Expanded COVID-19 Testing Continues; SNAP Emergency Allotment Issuance for July;Recall of Blumen Hand Sanitizers

COVID-19 test results are reported from multiple labs at varying times of the day. The Joint Information Center will report cumulative COVID-19 test results once a day, unless unavailable. 

JIC RELEASE NO. 226 - DPHSS Issues Guidance Memo 2020-27

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) issued Guidance Memo 2020-27 relative to the minimum requirements for reopening K-12 schools (Schools) and Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs). The purpose of this guidance is to establish a process by which Schools and IHEs are authorized to operate during Pandemic Condition of Readiness (PCOR) 3. This authorization is contingent upon the promulgation of an executive order authorizing such activity during PCOR 3.

Heavy Showers Expected; Practice Caution on the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 6 p.m., scattered heavy showers will bring brief periods of heavy rain to portions of Guam and Guam coastal waters. Occasional cloud-to-ground lightning is also possible.

If driving, be alert for water ponding on the road and near-zero visibility in heavy rain. If outdoors, seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard. Stay away from rivers and streams as water levels can rise suddenly.

JIC RELEASE NO. 222 - COVID-19 Positive Service Member Identified on Government Contracted Flight to Andersen Air Force Base

A service member that traveled to Andersen Air Force Base (AFB) on July 11 on a government contracted flight was confirmed positive with COVID-19.

The service member provided a sample for COVID-19 testing in the days preceding the flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Washington and displayed no COVID-19 symptoms prior to boarding the flight.
