The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent missile launch today.
“No immediate threat was assessed for Guam or the Marianas from the reported launch,” said Homeland Security Advisor, Esther Aguigui. “Events such as these will continue to be monitored by our office, while working with local, military, and federal partners.”
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, starting at 3:15 p.m.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS-OCD) will host an information session on generator project sub applications as part of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) on Wednesday, October 30, at 9 a.m.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a Flood Advisory in effect for Guam until 400pm.
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Approximately 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 -2 inches are expected.
Some areas that will experience flooding include: Dededo, Tamuning, Yigo, Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Barrigada, Yona, Agana Heights, MongMong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Asan, Piti, and Santa Rita.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a Small Craft Advisory in effect for Guam until 600pm Saturday evening in addition to the High Surf Advisory and Rip Current Statement that are still in effect till 600pm.
For the Small Craft Advisory, East to South winds 15 to 25kt with gusts up to 35kt and seas 8 to 13 feet. Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.
