GHS/OCD Host ICS-300 & ICS-400 Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) will host two Incident Command System (ICS) training opportunities at the Port Authority of Guam, Training Room, Piti. The courses follow:
 
  • May 14 – 16, 2018 (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents
  • May 17 – 18, 2018 (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) – ICS-400: Advanced ICS Command and General Staff

GovGuam and Joint Region Marianas strengthen One Guam Approach after Ballistic Missile Exercise

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense, Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Naval Base Guam, Andersen Air Force Base, and other local and federal agencies participated in a ballistic missile exercise, April 24. 

Following the exercise, participating federal and local agencies evaluated their performance and processes and established an improved baseline to further strengthen island-wide collaboration and coordination. 

GHS/OCD Host Vessel & Seaport Emergency Management Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the UCLA – Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program, will host the Vessel & Seaport Emergency Management training at the Port Authority of Guam training room, Piti. The course is offered multiple times:
  • Monday, May 7, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 8, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, May 9, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

GHS/OCD Host Fuel Storage Tank Emergency Management Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the UCLA – Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program, will host the Fuel Storage Tank Emergency Management training at the GHS/OCD facility, Agana Heights. The course is offered two separate times:
 
  • Thursday, May 3, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, May 4, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

GHS/OCD Host Hazardous Material & Maritime Security Training for Port Personnel

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the UCLA – Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program, will host the Hazardous Material & Maritime Security Training for Port Personnel on Wednesday, May 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Port Authority of Guam training room, Piti.

GHS/OCD, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, May 1, starting at 3:15 p.m.

GHS/OCD will test the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) from fifteen (15) locations in conjunction with NBG and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV).”

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense, Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Naval Base Guam, Andersen Air Force Base, and other local and federal strategic partners will participate in a Ballistic Missile Nuclear Detonation Command Post Exercise on April 24.

The exercise is one part of a concerted and ongoing One Guam effort between JRM and GHS/OCD and federal and local partners to increase readiness and cooperation in the event of crisis.

GHS/OCD Promotes Financial Preparedness & National Financial Capability Month

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) encourage the island to take action to improve their financial futures by participating in National Financial Capability Month, throughout April. Over the month of April, the Financial Literacy and Education Commission (FLEC), along with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of Treasury will focus on financial preparedness.
