NWS Advisories in Effect for the Marianas; Avoid Hazardous Seas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised northwest to northeast swell will produce hazardous surf across the Marianas. The following advisories remain in effect:

high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Friday. Hazardous surf of 6 to 9 feet this morning will build to between 8 and 10 feet Wednesday along north facing reefs.

Avoid Hazardous Seas and Dangerous Rip Currents; NWS Advisories in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam has the following advisories in effect:

high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until Monday. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet is expected along north facing reefs.  

high risk of rip currents is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Monday. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along north facing reefs.

Practice Caution in Heavy Rains this Morning

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Guam until 8:45 a.m. A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Heavy rain will cause urban and small stream flooding on Guam. Roughly 1.5 to 2 inches of rain has fallen in the past several hours. Heavy rain is approaching Guam.

Dangerous Rip Currents Remain; NWS Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam advised an east swell will maintain dangerous rip currents through today.

high risk of rip currents remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through this afternoon. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Surf of 7 to 9 feet, dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along east facing reefs of the Marianas.
