JIC RELEASE NO. 495 - Results: 19 of 319 Test Positive for COVID-19;DPHSS Issues Physicians Advisory On Use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine

Results: 19 New Cases of COVID-19 

Nineteen (19) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 319 tests performed on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Two (2) cases were identified through contact tracing. Three (3) cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine.

JIC RELEASE NO. 494 - Guam Receives First Shipment of COVID-19 Vaccines

Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) Director Arthur San Agustin announced the arrival in Guam of the first 3,900 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The doses were sent as part of the initial nationwide shipments that followed the Emergency Use Authorization for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 12.

Results: 12 New Cases of COVID-19 
Twelve (12) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 484 tests performed on Monday, December 14, 2020. Three (3) cases were identified through contact tracing. Three (3) cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine.

To date, there have been a total of 7,149 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 119 deaths, 519 cases in active isolation and 6,511 not in active isolation.

119th COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 119th COVID-19-related fatality occurred on December 9, 2020 at approximately 5:22 a.m. The patient was a 44-year-old male with underlying conditions and expired at home. He was a known COVID-19 case. 

JIC RELEASE NO. 490 - 118th COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported;Results: 16 of 692 Test Positive for COVID-19;Food Commodities Distribution Through Village Mayors Continues

118th COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 118th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) at approximately 2:49 p.m. today. The patient was a 69-year-old female with underlying conditions that were further compounded by COVID-19. She was admitted to GMH on October 19, 2020 and was a known positive case. 

JIC RELEASE NO. 489 - Two COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reported; Results: 11 of 396 Test Positive for COVID-19;DPHSS COVID-19 Community Mass Testing Continues Tomorrow

Two COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reported

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 116th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on November 19, 2020. The patient was a 85-year-old female with underlying conditions and expired at home in hospice care. She was a known COVID-19 case and was previously admitted to the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH). The patient’s death certificate was recently amended resulting in late reporting. 

 

JIC RELEASE NO. 488 - Results: 27 of 443 Test Positive for COVID-19;DPHSS COVID-19 Community Mass Testing Continues this Weekend

Results: 27 New Cases of COVID-19 
Twenty-seven (27) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 443 tests performed on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Six (6) cases were identified through contact tracing.

To date, there have been a total of 7,079 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 115 deaths, 551 cases in active isolation and 6,413 not in active isolation.

One Talofofo Mayor’s Office Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19
The Talofofo Mayor’s Office was notified that an employee was tested positive for COVID-19. The office will be closed today so that deep cleaning and disinfecting services can take place. The office will resume normal business operations on Monday, December 14, 2020. 

JIC RELEASE NO. 486 - Vaccine and Antiviral Prioritization Policy Committee Holds First Meeting

The Vaccine and Antiviral Prioritization Policy Committee (VAPPC) held its inaugural meeting Thursday afternoon to orientate the committee members on their role and update and inform them on progress made regarding the COVID-19 vaccine as it relates to Guam.
