Hazardous Surf Remains for the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS) - Guam Weather Forecast Office advise diminishing northwest swell generated by Typhoon Hagibis will prolong hazardous surf across the Mariana Islands through this afternoon.

Preliminary Damage Assessments Underway After Super Typhoon Hagibis

Pursuant to the Guam Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and other Government of Guam (GovGuam) support agencies have begun conducting an island-wide Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) following the passage of Super Typhoon Hagibis north of Saipan, which affected Guam between October 7-8, 2019.

JIC Release No. 6 - Hagibis Continues Toward Anatahan Island; Community Advised to Remain Indoors

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Super Typhoon Hagibis. As of 10:56 p.m., Hagibis was located 16.1 degrees north latitude and 146.7 degrees east longitude, approximately 95 miles northeast of Saipan and 220 miles northeast of Guam. Super Typhoon Hagibis is moving west-northwest at 15 mph with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph. The public is advised to stay indoors throughout the duration of the storm.

JIC Release No. 5 - Hospital/Clinic Update

Guam remains in Condition of Readiness (COR) 2 as of 6:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors until COR 4 is declared. As Super Typhoon Hagibis approaches the Marianas, the Mayors’ Council of Guam has announced that Senior Centers and Adult Day Care centers will be closed on Tuesday.

JIC Release No. 4 - Shelter and Transportation Update

Guam remains in Condition of Readiness (COR) 2 as of 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2019, and three Guam Department of Education emergency shelters are open. Mayor’s Offices will remain open throughout the night to provide bus transportation to shelters for residents in need.
