MRFC Closely Monitor International Phone Scam
In what is referred to as a “Wangiri” fraud, a Japanese word meaning ‘one ring and drop,’ the missed call from an international number prompts people to return the missed call. It is likely a “Wangiri” fraud, a scam that routes people to a premium rate service that can automatically charge the customer.
Hazardous Seas Expected through Wednesday; Avoid the Waters until Dangerous Conditions Subside
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office extended the high surf advisory and high risk of rip currents through Wednesday:
West swell has risen a little and is expected to rise more, renewing the threat of hazardous surf along west facing reefs and beaches.

As of 2 p.m., Governor Eddie Baza Calvo along with Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, commander, Joint Region Marianas, have returned Guam and the military bases, respectively, in Condition of Readiness (COR) 4. Tropical Storm 30W has passed south of Guam this afternoon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) – Guam Weather Forecast Office has lifted the tropical storm watch for Guam and Rota. Damaging winds are no longer a threat to the Marianas.
