Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Rear Adm. Brett Mietus anticipate placing Guam, and the respective military bases, in Condition of Readiness (COR) 2, and Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) 2 at 5 p.m. this afternoon, April 12, 2026.

JIC Release No. 4 - Guam to Move to COR 2 at 5 p.m.; Governor Requests Pre-Landfall Emergency Disaster Declaration; Healthcare Update

Based on the recent weather brief received from the National Weather Service, Weather Forecast Office Guam, and to provide the community additional time to prepare, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Rear Adm. Brett Mietus anticipate placing Guam, and the respective military bases, in Condition of Readiness (COR) 2, and Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) 2 at 5 p.m. this afternoon, April 12, 2026. 

JIC Release No. 2 - Guam in COR 3; Stay Out of the Water; Prepare Now


Governor Lou Leon Guerrero placed Guam in Condition of Readiness (COR) 3 at 5 p.m., April 10, 2026. At COR 3, damaging winds of 39 mph or more are expected within 48 hours. Yesterday, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order No. 2026-01 relative to declaring a state of emergency in anticipation of the approach of Tropical Storm Sinlaku. 

5:20 p.m. Tropical Depression Continues toward the Marianas; Use the Next Few Days to Prepare

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Tropical Depression 04W, formerly known as Invest Area 90W as it continues toward the Marianas. 04W has become increasingly organized over the past 12 hours as it has slowly tracked northwestward. It is expected to continue in this direction toward the Marianas.

As of 4 p.m., 04W was located near 8.1 degrees north latitude and 152.1 degrees east longitude, about 50 miles north-northeast of Chuuk, 620 miles southeast of Guam, moving west at 5 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

11:50 a.m. 90W Continues to Organize as it Moves Toward the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Invest Area 90W. As of 4 a.m., 90W was located near 9.2 degrees north latitude and 152.4 degrees east longitude, about 80 miles north of Chuuk, 570 miles east-southeast of Guam, moving northwest at 6 mph, with maximum sustained winds of 18-23 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course with an increase in forward speed in the coming days as it steadily intensifies.

6:35 p.m. Tropical Disturbance Continues to Track Toward Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Invest Area 90W, a tropical disturbance, located near 6N and 153E, between Chuuk and Pohnpei. 90W is anticipated to move to the west-northwest potentially taking it anywhere from over the Marianas or a passage to the south of Guam.
