NWS Advisories in Effect for the Marianas
The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office issued the following advisories for the Marianas:
A short term forecast is in effect for Guam and Guam coastal waters. Through 2 p.m., heavy showers and thunderstorms will move across portions of central and southern Guam and adjacent coastal waters. Areas affected include Hagatna and Agana Heights southward to Piti and Apra Harbor and farther to Umatac and Merizo. Up to an inch and a half of rain is possible with occasional lightning strikes.
No Immediate Threat from Reported North Korea Missile Tests
NEWS: Kontra I Piligru 2019 Exercise Tests Multi-Agency Response
The Guam National Guard’s 94th Civil Support Team (CST) along with local and federal first responders will hold a two-day exercise beginning July 30. The event consists of various emergency scenarios, including chemical and biological training scenarios throughout the island and will test multi-agency response capabilities.
NWS Issues Short Term Forecast; Practice Caution on the Roadways
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short-term forecast for Guam.
Through 12:30 p.m., periods of heavy showers will produce up to an inch of rain across villages of western Yigo, southern Dededo, Piti, Asan, Nimitz Hill, Agana Heights, Apra Harbor and adjacent waters.
Rainy Weather Expected Next Week
The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a hydrologic outlook for the Marianas.
A monsoon trough approaching from the south this weekend may bring substantial rainfall for the Marianas. Three to six inches of rain is expected between Tuesday and Thursday. Showers are expected as early as Sunday and Monday.
Community Urged to Refrain from Calling Back Unknown Phone Number
The Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC) is closely monitoring reports of local telephone numbers receiving calls from unusual or unexpected numbers.
The phone numbers may begin in area code 881 or 882 and are seemingly “spoofed,” which means it is imitated or disguised to appear as a different number.

The Port Authority of Guam (PAG) will conduct a test of the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) siren remotely from the Port location today, June 18, 2019, between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
