JIC Release No. 2 - Tropical Storm Conditions Possible for Guam; Yutu Now a Typhoon

The National Weather Service (NWS) - Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor Tropical Storm Yutu. As of 1 p.m., Yutu was located 11.8 degrees north latitude, 151.2 degrees east longitude, about 450 miles east-southeast of Guam and 435 miles east-southeast of Saipan. Guam remains in Condition of Readiness 3 at this time.

 

System Forecasted to Impact Marianas as a Typhoon

The National Weather Service (NWS) - Guam Weather Forecast Office continues to monitor what is now Tropical Depression Yutu. As of 7 a.m., Yutu was located near 8.7 degrees north latitude, 156.4 degrees east longitude, about 855 miles east-southeast of Guam and 845 miles east-southeast of Saipan, moving west-northwest with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. Yutu is expected to continue developing, becoming a tropical storm later today.

 

NWS Issues Flood Advisory for Guam; Drive with Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) - Guam Weather Forecast Office issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Guam, in effect until 4:30 p.m. A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
