Short Term Forecast Issued; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 5:30 a.m., scattered heavy showers and possibly a brief thunderstorm will drop up to an inch of rain as they move northeast up the island. This will produce brief flooding of roads and visibilities near zero. If driving, slow down in heavy rain. If lighting is seen or thunder is heard, seek shelter indoors.
For Guam, today and tonight are expected to be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

The previously reported heavy rain potential for the Marianas mid-week into the weekend remains as tropical systems in the area, while no direct threat to the Marianas, have the potential to generate heavy rain for our area.
