Short Term Forecast Issued for Guam; Practice Cautionon the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a short term forecast for Guam and Guam coastal waters. Through 2 p.m., heavy showers are forming over central and southern Guam. Localized amounts of 1 to 2 inches of rain are possible. Brief lightning is possible with any of the heavy showers.  

If driving, be alert for sudden heavy downpours, low visibility and brief flooding of roads. If outside, seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard. 

thunderstorm advisory is in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority through 2 p.m. this afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) advise residents and visitors to practice extreme caution while traveling in rainy conditions, driving below the speed limit and allowing enough braking distance between vehicles.
