Short Term Forecast Issued for Guam, Heavy Showers Expected this Evening

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a short term forecast for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, and their coastal waters. Through 2 a.m., heavy showers and thunderstorms are moving over Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan waters. These showers will persist over the waters and move over the islands.

If driving, be alert for reduced visibilities and ponding of water along roadways. Occasional lightning is also possible. Boaters can expect visibility down to a quarter of a mile. If thunder is heard or lightning is seen, boaters are advised to get below deck and avoid touching metal parts.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) advise the community to practice extreme caution while traveling in rainy conditions, driving below the speed limit and allowing enough braking distance between vehicles.
