Red Flag Warning in Effect for Guam, Refrain from Outdoor Burning

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has issued a red flag warning for Guam, in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon. A red flag warning means critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph are expected through this afternoon.

Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

fire weather watch will then be in effect for Guam from 5 p.m. this afternoon through late Tuesday night. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph are expected. The highest threat is expected for the southern part of Guam, mainly along and south of Cross Island Road.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to refrain from outdoor burning.
