Press Release - Guam in COR 4; Take caution as other advisories, watches still in effect

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Rear Admiral Brent De Vore will place Guam and the respective military bases in Condition of Readiness (COR) 4 at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

Joint Region Marianas, Naval Base Guam, Andersen Air Force Base, and Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz establish COR 4. For base patrons, please continue to visit the JRM Facebook page as well as each of the individual military installation social media pages for all of the latest information about the return to steady state and the availability of services. 

At 100 PM ChST Tropical Storm Bebinca (14W) has been downgraded to a tropical depression as it continues to move West-NorthWest from the Marianas at 26mph. Tropical Depression Bebinca (14W) is currently 195 West-NorthWest of Guam.

 Residents are still advised to be cautious when driving on roads due to continuing inclement weather as crews from Guam Power Authority, Department of Public Works, and Mayor’s offices are working in flood prone and outage areas to restore operations.

Guam still has active High Surf Advisory, Wind Advisory, Small Craft Advisory, and a Flood Watch in effect. Residents are reminded to monitor official channels for updates and changes.

 GDOE School Update:

GDOE opened one (1) emergency shelter, Maria A. Ulloa for the duration of the event and it will close at 200pm with the declaration of COR 4. All GDOE schools will return to normal operations tomorrow, September 12, 2024.
