Officials Monitor for Any Tsunami Threat to Guam from Alaska Earthquake

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 and later upgraded to an 8.2 that occurred 91 km ESE of Perryville, Alaska, at 4:15 p.m. ChST, with a depth of 46.7 km.

The tsunami threat, if any, to Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan from this earthquake is still under investigation.

The community is advised to stay alert for further information, in the event any tsunami advisories are issued for the Marianas.
