Guam in COR 4, All Clear

Hagåtña, Guam – Acting Governor Joshua F. Tenorio and Brig. Gen. Gentry Boswell, deputy commander, Joint Region Marianas, have placed Guam and the respective military bases in Condition of Readiness (COR) 4 as of 1 p.m. COR 4 means damaging winds are no longer expected for the Marianas.

The worst conditions from Super Typhoon Wutip persisted from Saturday night into Sunday morning, with maximum sustained winds of 40-45 mph, with gusts up to 70 mph.

“I want to personally commend all the hardworking people who collaborated and worked together to ensure our safety during this storm, including the National Weather Service, Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense, Department of Public Works, all our Public Safety officials, Guam Waterworks Authority, Guam Power Authority, our island mayors and their staff, the Guam Department of Education, and all our GovGuam agencies, and, of course, our military and federal partners,” said Acting Governor Tenorio. “I also want to thank the people of Guam for heeding our warnings in preparing for this storm.”

“Our work is not done. We will continue to conduct damage assessments in the coming days. In the meantime, I strongly advise our residents and visitors to stay out of the waters until all advisories are cleared. I know we all had a long weekend but I’m grateful that we were spared from Super Typhoon Wutip’s strongest winds and I’m extremely proud of the work everyone put into ensuring our safety,” Acting Governor Tenorio added.

Hazardous Seas Remain
The community is advised to stay out of the waters until hazardous conditions subside.

Dangerous surf of 16 to 20 feet today will remain dangerous through tonight at 10 to 15 feet.
