Guam in COR 1; Remain Indoors
Hagåtña, Guam – Acting Governor Joshua F. Tenorio has placed Guam in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1 as of 12 p.m. COR 1 means damaging winds are expected or have already arrived. The island is forecast to experience heavy flooding, especially in low-lying areas. A flash flood warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m.
As of 11 a.m., Typhoon Wutip was located near latitude 10.8N and longitude 143.6E and about 200 miles south-southwest of Guam. Wutip is moving north-northwest at a speed of 12 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 120 mph.
Wutip’s closest point of approach (CPA) is now expected tonight between 7 p.m to 11 p.m. Based on current predictions, damaging winds may begin to subside late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
Guam is expected to receive 6-8 inches of rain. Any northward shift of the track could bring heavier winds and rains to Guam. A flash flood warning is in effect for Guam. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautionary actions:

- Avoid walking or driving through flood waters
- Just 6 inches of moving water can knock you down, and 2 feet of water can sweep your vehicle away
- If there is a chance of flash flooding, move immediately to higher ground
- If floodwaters rise around your car but the water is not moving, abandon the car and move to higher ground. If the water is moving, do not leave the car.
- Avoid camping, parking, or hiking along streams, rivers, and creeks during heavy rainfall. These areas can flood quickly and with little warning.
