JIC Release No. 19 - Gov. Leon Guerrero in Communication with FEMA, Fellow Governors

Guam, and the respective military bases, remain in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1, and Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) 1.
REMAIN INDOORS UNTIL COR 4 IS ANNOUNCED.

Governor Communicating with DC, CNMI, Hawaii
Guam Governor Lou Leon Guerrero conducted a conference call with Karen Evans, the acting Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). She expressed thanks for the deployment of federal personnel to Guam and the Marianas, and for President Donald Trump’s approval of her requested pre-landfall Presidential Emergency Declaration. His quick action authorized FEMA to coordinate disaster relief and lessen or avert a catastrophe, as authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act.

Governor Leon Guerrero has also been in contact with CNMI Governor David Apatang. With the Commonwealth feeling the brunt of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, Guam’s Governor wanted to extend her prayers for our neighbors, and assure him that Guam stands ready to assist our sister territory. Governor Josh Green of Hawaii called Governor Leon Guerrero Tuesday to express his best wishes and offer of support if needed as well.

The spirit of unity shown by the Chief Executives of the CNMI and Hawaii are also reflected in the productive discussions that are ongoing between the Homeland Security offices of our respective territories and the Aloha state.
