12:20 p.m. Hazardous Surf and Seas Remain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam advised a large northeast swell combined with a north secondary swell, and a nearby shear line will produce hazardous surf along north facing reefs and a high risk of rip currents along north and east facing reefs.

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions and rip currents.

Advisories in Effect:
  • High Surf Advisory for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan (7–9 ft surf, building to 9–11 ft tonight) until 4 p.m. Monday.
  • High Risk of Rip Currents for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Monday afternoon.
  • Small Craft Advisory for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan coastal waters (winds 15–25 kt; seas 8–10 ft) until 5 a.m. Monday.

The Office of Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense (OHS-OCD) remind the community to remain out of the water while the advisories are in effect.
