OHS-OCD Hosts Tsunami Awareness Training

The Office of Guam Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense (OHS-OCD), in coordination with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC), will host the Tsunami Awareness (AWR-217) training on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the OHS-OCD facility in Agana Heights.

The one-day training is offered at no cost to eligible participants and is meant to enhance attendees’ abilities to support their organizations’ tsunami preparedness and response efforts. Attendees will gain a better understanding of tsunami hazards, current assessment tools and products, tsunami warning and notification processes, and methods of community response to local and distant tsunamis.

The target audience for the course include emergency management partners, community volunteers, government of Guam, military, federal, private, and non-profit organizations. To register, visit https://ndptc.hawaii.edu/training/delivery/4315/.
