Southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph are expected. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Winds that strong could also make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution when driving on roads with no center barriers, as well as when passing high profile vehicles.
Preparedness Actions
Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary measures:
- Clear loose debris around your yard and store any items, such as unsecured tents and canopies, that may become airborne with heavy winds, before inclement weather arrives;
- Clear drainage areas and unblock storm drains to minimize flooding;
- Stay up to date with the latest weather information;
- When driving in heavy rain, be alert for low visibilities and slippery roads, slow down where water is ponding on the road;
- Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Avoid walking or driving through flood waters;
- Do not camp, park, or hike along streams and rivers. These areas can flood quickly and with little warning;
- Be alert for possible landslides in areas of steep terrain. Report any signs of potential landslides to local authorities immediately;
- Stay out of the water due to dangerous surf and rip currents.
