JIC Release No. 7 - Guam in COR 4 at Noon Today; GovGuam Employees Report to Work at 1 p.m.; Tropical Storm Warning Canceled; Man-yi Rapidly Moving Away from Guam

Guam in COR 4 at Noon Today; GovGuam Employees Report to Work at 1 p.m.

Acting Governor Josh Tenorio and Rear Admiral Brent De Vore will place Guam and the respective military bases in Condition of Readiness (COR) 4 at noon today. GovGuam will resume operations at 1 p.m. today.


Residents are still advised to be cautious when driving on roads as crews from Guam Power Authority, the Department of Public Works, and the Mayor’s Offices are continuing mitigation and assessment efforts.

Tropical Storm Warning Canceled
A tropical storm warning for Guam has been canceled. As of 11 a.m. ChST, Tropical Storm Man-Yi is 110 miles West-SouthWest of Guam, moving Southwest at 18 mph with sustained winds at 50mph and expected to intensify through Thursday, possibly becoming a Typhoon North of Yap. Guam still has an active High Surf Advisory and Rip Current Statement in effect at 6 a.m. Thursday morning.

Emergency Shelters Close at Noon Today
The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) opened three emergency shelters, Maria A. Ulloa Elementary School, George Washington High School, and Talofofo Elementary School, for the duration of Tropical Storm Man-yi. These shelters will close at noon today in conjunction with the declaration of COR 4. All GDOE schools will return to normal operations tomorrow, November 14, 2024.

Catholic Schools to Resume Classes on Thursday
With the island returning to COR4, the Archdiocese of Agaña announces that Catholic schools will resume their regular instructional schedules on Thursday, November 14.

UOG & GCC Classes Resume at 2 p.m.
University of Guam (UOG) and Guam Community College (GCC) will resume classes at 2 p.m.

GRMC & GMH Resume Regular Visiting Hours
At the announcement of COR4, Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) and Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) will resume normal operations and regular visiting hours.
