Press Release – Rip Current Statement in effect until Nov 12 500pm

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a Rip a current Statement in effect for Guam until Tuesday, November 12 at 5:00pm.

Dangerous rip currents expected for east facing reefs of the Marianas.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind residents:
  • Swim near a lifeguard. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deep water
  • If caught in a rip current, relax and float
  • If able, swim in the direction following the shoreline
  • If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help
