Press Release- Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense To Host Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Information Session

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) will host its first information session on the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and the application process on Friday, October 25, at 10 a.m.

Following the Presidential Disaster Declaration in response to Typhoon Mawar, Guam received HMGP funding. The funding is available to Government of Guam entities and private non-profit organizations for projects that reduce risks to people and property across the island.

The information session will cover the HMGP application process and outline the types of projects eligible for funding, such as relocating structures from hazard-prone areas, retrofitting buildings to withstand flooding, and developing comprehensive mitigation plans.

Attendees will be able to learn more about how this grant can support long-term hazard mitigation efforts.

To proceed, interested applicants must submit a Notice of Interest (NOI) form to Amanda Blas, State Hazard Mitigation Officer, no later than November 1, 2024. Completed project sub-applications are due by November 15, 2024. Early submission of NOI forms is encouraged to ensure eligibility.

Seats are limited, and registration is required to attend the session. To register, please visit https://forms.gle/AxkfZg4a9UFsMYc9A
