Press Release- Tropical Disturbance 99W North of Chuuk Continues Toward Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a Weather Update to provide information regarding a Tropical Disturbance in Chuuk State which will bring heavy rain to the Marianas.

99W continues its slow westward trek toward the Mariana Islands tracking generally west-northwest. At this time, forecasted development into a significant tropical cyclone in the next day or two is unlikely.

A Hydrologic Outlook still remains in effect for Guam.

There is a possibility for locally heavy rainfall of 6 to 11 inches across the Marianas between Saturday night and Tuesday. Flash flooding remains likely during Saturday night through Tuesday time frame.

The offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind residents to continue closely monitor official channels for updates and begin by assessing possible preparations around your household: tents, canopies, tarps, and trash bins.
