Press Release - No Tsunami Threat to Marianas from Nearby Earthquake

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 that occurred 110 miles east of Guguan in the Northern Marianas at 937pm September 16, 2024 with a depth of 6 miles

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Guam or the Marianas at this time. This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.
