Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
A high surf advisory remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet is expected in the surf zone for north facing reefs. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion are expected.
A high risk of rip currents remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through late tonight. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from the shore into deeper water. If caught in a rip current, do not swim against the current. Swim in a direction following the shoreline, face the shore and call or wave for help.
A flood watch remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 p.m. this evening. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. Heavy showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical disturbance are expected. Rainfall amounts between 1 and 3 inches, with locally heavier amounts in excess of 6 inches, is possible through late this afternoon. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to avoid hazardous seas and dangerous rip currents, especially north facing reefs and beaches. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags, and signs.
