The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised heavy showers and gusty winds are expected arriving first to southern Guam and southwestern Guam and likely moving up the island. Strong gusty winds are expected upon approach.
Expect a torrential gusty downpour. The community is advised to use caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.
The following advisories remain in place for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan:
A high risk of rip currents remains in effect through Friday afternoon. Dangerous rip currents are expected along west facing reefs. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous conditions.
A small craft advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Friday. Southeast winds of 10 to 20 knots, with gusts to 30 knots, and seas of 7 to 11 feet are expected. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind the community to practice caution while traveling in windy conditions, driving below the speed limit and allowing enough braking distance between vehicles.
